How to recreate value from used plastic bags?
For the “It’s Your Waste” exhibition during Dutch Design Week 2015, we dove into the potential of the plastic bags as a material. Many industrial processes, like plastic, rely on the consumption of finite resources. Within this context, upcycling is necessary to reduce waste and bring new and higher value.
Built to last, plastic is a strong material with specific properties such as strength, elasticity and flexibility. The “Waste’s values “ project explores those properties by developing plastic woven fabrics. We designed a hammock to highlight and contextualize the potential and preciousness of this new material.
