How to convey Food-Based Dietary Guidelines to Ethiopians?
Since 53% of Ethiopian women of reproductive age are illiterate, the development of visual aids is of crucial importance to make dietary guidelines accessible to the target population. Within the constraints of a scientific process, we were in charge of developing a visual identity for the first Ethiopian Food-Based Dietary Guidelines. Knowing the challenges and needs of the community for which the dietary guidelines will be designed formed the basis of our research. From field research to participatory data collection, we have created an information gathering process necessary to design a culturally appropriate visual identity for Ethiopians.
